MTAC UTAU Panel: Free Virtual Vocalists
04 · 14 · 17 @ 1:30 AM
Pachi and I will be attending MTAC this year, and we will be hosting a panel on the history and usage of the UTAU software, as well as giving a short demo! Afterwards, we plan to host a small UTAU meet. There will be free singing robot goodies, including but not limited to stickers and shrinkfilm phone charms!
Room: Panel A
Panels
As part of Studio VOXYZ’s initiative to teach others about vocalsynths, Myst has produced informative panels that she presents at fan conventions. She also hosts UTAU fan meets at both conventions and concerts.
UTAU: Free Virtual Vocalists
This panel about the UTAU software consists of a brief fandom history, an intro to some of the prominent characters, and a quick rundown of the process of creating a voicebank. It includes video examples of unique UTAU in various languages and voice types, and ends with a software demonstration.
VOCALOID Culture: Beyond the Voice
This is a newer panel that focuses on the unique creative culture surrounding the vocalsynth idol-in-a-box concept. It discusses the use of VOCALOID in doujin works in Japan, introduces Western producers that often slip under the general fandom radar, and explains how fans can support artists within the community and become content creators themselves.
Where have all the VOCALOIDs gone?
The title is tentative, but this is a planned upcoming panel about various companies’ transition from Yamaha’s VOCALOID to other synth engines (CeVIO, SynthV, Piapro NT).
